Top Oakville High Schools

When searching for a new home buyers have many things they have to consider before deciding on a place such as, the type of neighbourhood, is the house close to local shops or public transit, is it close to work, and the most important of them all, if you have children, is if there are good schools in the area.

Well, good news for current and future Oakville residents because the Town currently holds 5 of the top 50 high schools in Ontario according to The Fraser Institute. The Fraser Institue provides a detailed report on how each school is doing in academics compared to other ranked schools, it also shows whether the results are improving, declining, or just staying the same over the most recent 5 years.

Here are the top high schools in Oakville:

 

#2 Abbey Park High School

Rating in the most recent five years: 8.9

2016/2017 Rating: 9.2

Abbey Park is located in the Glen Abbey neighbourhood, students have access to a weight room, library, and a track. Abbey Park is also situated near Glen Abbey Community Centre, which houses the Glen Abbey branch of the Oakville Public Library. This high school has been recognized as a very charitable school, taking part in many annual fundraisers like the Terry Fox Run, Halloween for Hunger, and Pencil for Kids.

 

#11 Oakville Trafalgar High School

Located in South East Oakville, Oakville Trafalgar High School was founded in 1908 and is very well known for its Rugby Team. This school was also a major contributor to war efforts during World War I, the fields were transformed into giant bean fields tended by student volunteers.

 

#25 Iroquois Ridge High School

Iroquois Ridge High School is in the Joshua Creek neighbourhood. This high school often referred to as “The Ridge”, has a large gym a soccer/football field surrounded by a 400m track with a long jump pit, and a fitness centre. The school is also located across from the Iroquois Ridge Community Centre.

 

#33 Garth Webb Secondary School

Garth Webb secondary school is one of the newest high schools in Oakville and one that has made the biggest jump in rating going from 8.1 to 8.5. This school serves the communities of West Oak Trails and Bronte Creek, and it is named after D-Day veteran Garth Webb who founded the Juno Beach Centre.

 

#43 White Oaks High School

Rating in the most recent five years: 8.3

2016/2017 Rating: 8.3

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

White Oaks secondary school is situated in the River Oaks neighbourhood, with north and south campuses right across each other. The north campus offers hands-on technical programs such as hairdressing, child care, auto body and carpentry.
