You either own one or know someone that has one. The Instant Pot has become the latest craze in the cooking world, being the #1 selling brand on amazon.com and the one with the highest overall customer ratings.
If you aren’t quite sure what an Instant Pot is, we’ll break it down for you. The Instant Pot is a multi-cooker that can do the job of a slow cooker, electric pressure cooker, rice cooker, steamer, yogurt maker, saute/browning pan, and a warming pot.
One single appliance that does the job of seven different kitchen tools!
And we have a few Canadians to thank for this invention. It all started in 2009 when a team of Canadian technology veterans wanted to set out and explore the food preparation category based on their own personal life experiences. They wanted to find a solution that would enable busy families and professionals to prepare quality food in less time, promoting better eating and reducing the consumption of fast foods.
After 18 months they did just that! The first product they developed had an advanced microprocessor and incorporated the functions of five cooking appliances in one: pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, steamer and warmer.
Now Instant Pot has 13 different kinds of pots, including one that has smart Bluetooth which lets you program and monitor from your smartphone or tablet.
Are you unsure what to begin to cook with one of these pots? Well no need to worry, there are various websites and apps that have all kinds of easy recipes.
If you head over to the official Instant Pot website and click on their recipes tab, you’ll be able to see a huge variety of mouth-watering recipes. You can even personalize and find more detailed recipes by choosing which kind of meal you want to cook, the cuisine and diet. Instant Pot also has an app with more recipes.
We’ve had our first taste of the Instant Pot magic when one of our very own Deki Shukla made a delicious Hot and Sour soup in 30 minutes! It was the perfect treat for a cold day.
So what do you think of the Instant Pot, amazing invention or you don’t think it lives up to the hype?
