Maple Syrup Days in Halton

You know Springtime is coming when the maple sap starts running!

From February 24  until April 2 Conservation Halton and Bronte Creek Provincial Park will be hosting Maple Syrup Days on weekends and during March Break.

We give you all the details:

Sugar Maker’s Breakfast

Where: 2259 Milburough Line, Campbellville

Price: Adults $25 and Children (ages 14 years and under) & Seniors $16, Plus HST

Sugar Maker’s Breakfast will be on February 24 – 25, from 8 am until 11:00 am.

At Mountsberg Conservation area you will be able to enjoy and be part of a time-honoured celebration of spring through this pre-registered event.

The Sugar Maker’s breakfast will begin with a hearty pancake breakfast by the woodstove. After breakfast enjoy the fresh air in a wagon ride and tour of Mountsberg’s 150-year-old sugar bush. You’ll learn about the rich history of maple sugaring, how to identify different species of maples, and you can get a hands-on experience by learning how to tap a tree in the sugar bush and hang your own bucket.

Your family will receive a tapping kit to take home as a souvenir of your visit! For the rest of the day, you can enjoy the other festivities happening in Maple Town.

Maple Town

Where: 2259 Milburough Line, Campbellville

Price: FREE with regular gate admission

The Maple Town Experience will start on February 24 – April 2, and it will only be running on weekends, holidays and during March Break, from 10:00 am until 4 pm.

At this event, you’ll be able to see how sap is transformed into sweet, sticky syrup, and smell the steam rising from simmering kettles. Free candy samples will be available when you learn the secrets of how to make Maple Candy.

Enjoy some hearty, warm food with pancakes smothered in maple syrup that will be served under the outdoor pavilion in the woods (additional fees apply for pancakes and wagon rides). Kids can jump, climb, and run in the play barn.

Don’t miss the dramatic birds of prey demonstration in the Raptor Centre, and view bison, eagles, hawks and owls along the Wildlife Walkway.

Sweet Water Season

Where: 3115 Conservation Road, Milton

Price: FREE with regular gate admission

Crawford Lake will be hosting their own maple syrup event from February 24 – April 2, weekends, holidays, and March Break, from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

There you can visit the reconstructed Iroquoian Village and learn how maple syrup was discovered and used by Indigenous People as you take part in the Sweet Water Demonstration.

Staff will later demonstrate how to make taffy in the snow! Get your taste buds ready because you can try a flight of different grades and types of syrup.

Kids will be able to enjoy a winning prize for completing the maple-themed discovery hunt.

Bronte Creek Annual Maple Syrup Festival

Where: Bronte Provincial Park

Price: Included in the park daily vehicle access fee

Visit Bronte Creek Park on the first Saturday in March when fresh Ontario maple syrup begins flowing. The event will start on March 3 – April 1, every weekend and daily throughout March Break, from 9:30 am – 3:00 pm.

The whole family will be able to enjoy a guided tour of Maple Lane where interpreters dressed from the 1890’s demonstrate different historical ways of collecting and making maple syrup.

The tour will end in the middle of Spruce Lane Farm where you can learn how to make fresh maple sugar or enjoy a stick of maple taffy before visiting farm animals in the yard.

Kids can have fun and play a lot of exciting games at the family activity centre. And if you’re feeling hungry you can hop on a wagon that will take you to the Pancake House where you can enjoy fresh, hot pancakes and sausages with pure maple syrup.
