Want to be sure how you can prevent your house from a fire and how to protect your family in case of one? Then come by to the Oakville Fire Department Training Campus this Saturday September 30th from 11am-4pm for the kickoff event to the annual fire prevention week.
The theme for this year will be ‘Every second counts! Plan 2 ways out!’ If a fire occurred in your home tonight would your family get out safely? A fast, preplanned escape is critical to survival. There are no second chances in a fire.
This is a great opportunity to remind you and your families to develop and practice a home escape plan in case of a fire. Oakville Fire’s public education officer, Glenn Barwell says, “That pre-planning is what everyone in the household will draw upon in the event of a fire and will greatly improve the chances of a safe escape.”
Bring your children, grandparents and friends to enjoy many of the free activities and food:
- Hot dog BBQ
- Bucket Truck Demonstrations
- Rescue Demonstrations
- Fire Safety Game
- Smoke Room Simulator
- Say hi to Sparky the fire dog
- Junior firefighter challenge
And much more!
There will be free parking and shuttle service to the event from the Bronte GO, parking at the training campus is reserved for people with limited mobility or medical conditions.
